When You’re in Pain, Everything Else Can Wait
Dental pain has a way of making everything else stop. Maybe it started as something small and got worse overnight. Maybe you cracked a tooth during lunch, or a crown came loose right before a trip. Whatever the situation, you need answers, fast.
We understand how disruptive dental emergencies can be, both physically and emotionally. At our Ellisville office, we reserve space in our schedule each day to offer quick relief in a way that calms you.
If you’re anxious or unsure whether you’re experiencing a dental emergency, you’re not alone. Please call us right away. We’ll talk it through and help you decide on the next step.
What Qualifies as a Dental Emergency?
If something doesn’t feel right, it’s worth getting checked. Some issues need immediate care, while others can wait a day or two. Either way, we’re here to help you get out of pain and back to your normal routine with as little disruption as possible.
We treat a range of urgent dental concerns, including:
- Sudden or severe toothaches
- Broken, chipped, or cracked teeth
- Knocked-out or loose permanent teeth
- Lost or broken crowns, bridges, or fillings
- Swelling, abscesses, or signs of infection
- Dental trauma from accidents or injury
If you’ve delayed care or aren’t sure how the issue started, that’s okay—we just want to help you now. Without judgement or overtreatment, we’ll focus on helping you feel better.
Gentle Care When You Need It Most
If you’re in pain, we’ll see you as soon as we can—often the same day. We’ll stabilize what’s urgent, explain what we’re seeing, and help you make decisions from there. If you’re nervous or overwhelmed, we’ll slow things down and meet you where you are.
If needed, we offer:
- Local anesthetic and nitrous for comfort
- A quiet, calm environment (with a comfort dog, if requested)
- Temporary solutions to relieve pain until you’re ready for long-term care
- Insurance acceptance and flexible payment solutions
Whatever your next step looks like, we’ll help you take it without fear or confusion.
Home Support Tips
Every situation is different, but here are some general tips for common dental issues:
Toothache:
Rinse gently with warm salt water and take over-the-counter pain medication if you’re able. Avoid very hot, cold, or sweet foods that may increase sensitivity.
Cracked or chipped tooth:
If the tooth has a sharp edge, cover it with dental wax (available at most pharmacies) to protect your tongue and cheeks. Avoid chewing on that side.
Knocked-out tooth:
If it’s your natural tooth, handle it carefully by the crown (top), not the root. If you can, gently place it back in the socket. If not, keep it moist in milk or saline and call us immediately.
Lost filling or crown:
You can place a small amount of temporary dental cement or even sugar-free gum over the area to protect it until we can repair it.
Swelling or abscess:
Apply a cold compress to the outside of your cheek to reduce swelling. Avoid applying heat. Call us as soon as possible—this may be a sign of infection.
In any of these cases, call our office now. We’ll help you with the next step and let you know what to watch for.
